Art installation in St. Mary Magdalene Church
When the Catholic St. Mary Magdalene Church in Bochum celebrated its one hundredth anniversary, a special campaign was initiated to mark the occasion.
The Essen-based artist Jens J. Meyer set up a large, filigree spatial installation in the church nave, below which the parishioners gather for worship.
The work, entitled “Chuppa Magna,” is accompanied by an exhibition with the artist’s sculptures, collages and drawings.
The Evonik Foundation made a financial contribution to enable this unusual art installation, supporting a project that brings together church and art in an innovative way.
