Data protection: your right – our duty
You can rest assured that we will protect and safeguard your personal information:
protecting your privacy when we process your personal details is of great importance
to the Evonik Foundation, and is something that we address in all of our business
processes.

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to outline the fundamental principles
of how we handle personal information. You will also find these principles, together
with any other information relevant to the recording, processing and use of personal
information, wherever we ask you to provide such details.

The information that we collate
You are at liberty to use the vast majority of the Evonik Foundation website without
having to provide us with any personal information. There are only a few features and
services on our website that are subject to the provision of personal details before
they can be used.

When you use the Evonik Foundation website, the Evonik Foundation’s web server
automatically logs and analyses your technical access data. This data cannot be
ascribed to a specific individual, however, and individual users therefore remain
anonymous.

Technical access data
This data includes, for example, your IP address, details of the Internet browser and
operating system being used, the domain name of the website that instigated a user
to visit our website, the average session length, and the specific pages viewed within
our website. This data is submitted to our Web server by your Internet browser
whenever you call up an individual web page.

In addition, we make use of cookies in certain areas of our website. Cookies are
small data elements that an Internet server sends to your computer. Cookies allow us
to identify your computer for the duration of your visit to our website and facilitate
your use of our website. We do not use cookies to collate personal information. You
can adjust your Internet browser settings such that you are always requested to

We use this technical access information to constantly improve the attractiveness and
user-friendliness of our website and its content, and to identify possible technical
problems within our website.

Personal data
We only collate, process and use personal data if it is voluntarily provided by you.
Examples of this are in relation to a query on your part, if you fill in a questionnaire,
or if you request us to contact you.

We also need you to provide us with personal data if you wish to use certain
Internet-specific services offered on the Evonik Foundation website. These may be a
newsletter or forums, for example. Whenever you opt to use such services, you will

Evonik Industries AG does not knowingly collate the personal details of minors or use
such information in any way. We are not usually aware of the age of the persons
using our website. However, we have not implemented any specific measures to give
special protection to such data.

Evonik Foundation, it recommends that all parents and guardians teach their children

Children should not submit any personal information to the Evonik Foundation
without the explicit approval of their parents or guardians.

How we use your information
The Evonik Foundation collates, processes and uses any personal information
resulting from your visits to our website only in accordance with the relevant
statutory provisions concerning the protection of personal data.

We only use personal information for the purposes listed in this privacy policy (for
example, to process queries or for you to use Internet services). In addition, we shall
only collate, process or use personal information inasmuch as this is necessary in
order to protect the reasonable business interests of the Evonik Foundation.
The Evonik Foundation will not share the personal information provided by you with
third parties without your express permission.

Access to, changes to and deletion of your data
Pursuant to applicable law, you are entitled to make enquiries in writing at any time
regarding whether we have collated personal information relating to you and what
personal information relating to you we have collated. We will then inform you in
writing accordingly. Please submit any such enquiries to our Group Data protection
officer, who is also responsible for your data being changed or deleted upon request.

Your data’s security
The information provided to the Evonik Foundation by you is protected by means of
suitable technical and organisational means in order to protect it from incidental or
intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, access by unauthorised persons or
unauthorised disclosure to third parties. Our security measures are continuously
monitored and improved in accordance with the latest technological developments
and organisational capabilities.
